Why it works

The benefits of a garden offices

  • A proper end to the working day

Close the door on your desk at the end of the day and leave work at the bottom of the garden, rather than on the kitchen table.

  • Quiet when you need it

A separate building puts some distance between you and the rest of the household during calls and focused work.

  • Space that's set up and ready

Keep your desk, screens and paperwork where you left them, without packing everything away each evening.

  • Natural light to work by

Many of our buildings have generous glazing, so you can choose a design that brings in plenty of daylight.

Practical considerations

Things to think about

A few points we'll talk through with you. Every garden is different, so the details of your project are agreed in your quotation.

  • Power and lighting

Our Platinum package includes an electrical package with four double sockets, a consumer unit, two LED batten lights and a light switch. Connecting the building to your mains supply (the SWA cable) is quoted individually.

  • Internet connection

Broadband isn't part of our packages. It's worth checking your Wi-Fi signal at the end of the garden and asking your broadband provider about the options.

  • Comfort through the seasons

Platinum adds the insulation package, and climate control is available as an optional upgrade. We'll talk through what suits how often you'll use the room.

  • Glare and position

Think about where the sun falls through the day and where your screen will sit. We can help you choose the position and the door and window layout.

Your questions

Frequently asked

Do I need planning permission for a garden office?

Many garden rooms fall within permitted development, but it depends on the size, height and position of the building, your property and its location. If clients, customers or staff would visit you, it's worth checking with your council too. Our garden room guide explains the current official guidance.

Can you install the electrics?

Yes. The electrical package is part of our Platinum package: four double sockets, a consumer unit, two LED batten lights and a light switch, surface mounted in white mini trunking. The SWA connection to your mains supply isn't included in any package and is quoted individually.

Will it be warm enough in winter?

That depends on the building, the insulation and how you heat it. Platinum includes floor insulation (Jablite between the floor joists) and an insulated roof construction, and climate control is an optional upgrade. We'll discuss the options with you rather than promise a temperature.

Can I split the room into an office and storage?

Partition walls are available as an optional upgrade on suitable buildings, so you could create a separate store or a second small room.
